About Us
A Cottage on the Waterfront
Moir Cottage is situated on the harbour waterfront in the charming, unspoilt little fishing village of Portpatrick on the Rhins of Galloway, South-West Scotland.
The cottage is available for rent the year round.
Portpatrick is a part of the world where you can forget the stresses and strains of everyday life and relax into a time that you thought was long past. Stroll along the harbour front to one of the local pubs or restaurants and enjoy a drink or meal as you watch the boats come and go, or take a picnic to one of the many deserted beaches up and down the coast. If you’re feeling a bit more energetic, there are spectacular 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses above the village, and lots of cliff and woodland walks. The Southern Upland Way, a walking trail that crosses the country from West to East, starts beside Portpatrick harbour.
The cottage is perfect for family groups and people with elderly family members. There is one bedroom and two bathrooms on the ground floor for easy access.
The village is a perfect spot for children with a beach, a good playpark, and an excellent 18-hole putting green for all ages on the harbour.
The surrounding area is perfect for golfers, walkers, cyclists, lovers of nature, and gardeners. Logan Gardens (part of the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh) is close by, as are Glenwhan Gardens and Castle Kennedy Gardens.
Moir Cottage has been in our family since 1960. We spent all our holidays there with our granny as children. Our own children have all grown up spending their summer holidays in Portpatrick. We love the place, and hope that you will as well.

The cottage accommodates a maximum of six people.
- Three bedrooms: two doubles and one twin
- A sitting room overlooking the harbour
- A large well-equipped kitchen
- A dining area seating six
- Two bathrooms on the ground floor, one with bath, walk-in shower, sink and toilet, the other with walk-in shower, sink and toilet.
The cottage is well-suited for groups with elderly or limited-mobility members although there is a step down from the main door and there are two steps up to the kitchen, so those in wheelchairs are advised to bring their own folding ramp if needed.

The cottage is spread over three floors. There is a bedroom on each floor.

This bedroom is at the back of the building. It has two single beds and is close to the main bathroom.

This bedroom is a very large double with plenty of hanging space.

This bedroom has spectacular views out across the harbour and to Ireland.
